This song is one of only a few original compositions in the collection. It was penned by Margaret, one of Carrie's older sisters, in reference to a black and white plaid shawl Carrie's mother had knitted that hung on a hook beside the door. In cooler temperatures they would reach up and remove it from its hook before dashing out the door.
